Add the law library to your AI assistant
Add one address to your AI app, once. The app opens our sign-in page; you sign in there. Then your assistant can look up court opinions, statutes and court rules and quote the source. Every tool is read-only.
What is the connector?
- One address, added once. It works in Claude, ChatGPT and other AI apps that can add a remote connector.
- Sign-in happens on our page. Your app sends you to it in the browser. Your password never goes into the chat.
- Every tool is read-only. Your assistant can look things up. It cannot file, edit, pay for or delete anything.
- It uses your account’s daily lookups, the same ones as the law library on this site and the API. Every account includes it, Free too.
The connector address
Copy this address. You paste it into your AI app in the steps below.
https:// mcp .legalopsdepot .com /mcpNo account yet? Create a free account first. The Free plan needs no card.
How do I add it to Claude?
- Open Connectors. In Claude, it is in the settings menu (Claude’s help pages currently call it Customize, then Connectors).
- Add a custom connector. Give it a name, for example Legal Ops Depot.
- Paste the address from above and continue.
- Sign in. Claude opens our sign-in page. Sign in with your Legal Ops Depot email and password.
- Ask your question. Claude uses the library when it needs a source.
How do I add it to ChatGPT?
- Open Settings, then the page for connectors (ChatGPT may call them apps).
- Add a custom connector. On some plans you first turn on developer mode in the same settings.
- Paste the address from above and choose sign-in (OAuth) when asked how it signs in.
- Sign in on our page when ChatGPT sends you there.
- Use it in a chat. Pick the connector in the chat if your app asks you to.
Menu names change from time to time. If a step looks different, search your app’s help pages for “custom connector”.
How do I use the API?
The same read-only tools work from your own software over HTTPS. Make a key on your API keys page. The full key is shown once. Then send a POST with the tool’s inputs as a JSON body:
curl -X POST \
-H "authorization: Bearer slo_ak_…" \
-H "content-type: application/json" \
-d '{"query": "Liberty Lobby", "level": "supreme", "limit": 5}' \
https://mcp.legalopsdepot.com/v1/tools/search_casesA GET to https://mcp.legalopsdepot.com/v1/tools with your key lists every tool and its inputs. API calls use the same daily lookups as the connector. A Firm account can have up to 5 keys sharing its lookups.
What can my assistant look up?
There are 23 tools. Your AI app shows them by name; here is what each one does, in plain words.
Case law (6)
About 10 million court opinions.
search_cases: Find cases by words in the case name, or by a phrase later courts used about a case.get_case_by_citation: Find a case from its citation, for example 477 U.S. 242.get_case: Read a case's record: court, date and its opinions.get_opinion: Read the full text of an opinion.list_citations: List the cases an opinion cites, or the later cases that cite it.best_authority: Cases on a topic, ranked for the court you are in, with the courts that bind it first.
Statutes and regulations (1)
The U.S. Code, every state code plus DC and Puerto Rico, and the Code of Federal Regulations.
get_statute: Read one section, for example 42 USC 1983 or a state code section.
Court rules and deadlines (10)
3,400 courts matched to their official court rules.
list_sovereigns: List the jurisdictions: federal, each state, DC and the territories.list_levels: List the court levels in one jurisdiction: supreme, appeals, trial.list_courts: List the courts at one level.search_courts: Find a court by county, city, circuit or name.map_procedure: The list of rules that apply in one court.get_packet: The rules packet for one court.get_rule: Read one rule's text, with a link to its source.search_rules: Search one court's rules by words.discover_rules: Find the rules that may apply to a situation you describe.scan_constraints: Deadlines and limits in one court for one kind of case.
Your own matters (3)
Only for customers, and only your own account's matters.
list_mine: List your matters, with their deadlines, updates and court case numbers.list_files: List the files on one of your matters.get_file: Read one of your files.
Your account and our prices (3)
Small helpers.
whoami: Who is signed in, and the account's plan. It does not use a lookup.list_skus: Our filing preparation services and their prices.list_sku_categories: The categories of those services.
Only U.S. Supreme Court cases that were overruled are flagged. The tools do not say whether any other case is still good law; they show the cases that cite it.
What are the limits on each plan?
Lookups are counted per account per day and reset at midnight UTC. Asking who is signed in does not count.
| Plan | Price | Lookups a day | Lookups a minute |
|---|---|---|---|
| Free | $0 | 40 | 30 |
| Plus | $12 a month | 300 | 30 |
| Pro | $39 a month | 1,500 | 30 |
| Firm | $149 a month | 10,000 | 300 |
Change your plan on the law library plans.
What do you receive when a tool is called?
We receive the lookup your AI app or your software sends (the tool and what it asked for) and we count it against your account. We do not receive the rest of your conversation. What your AI app keeps is up to its provider. Details are in our privacy policy.
How does the filing engine use the library?
The filing engine researches in this same library, so its papers cite the opinions, statutes and court rules you can look up here. The engine site explains how: primary law, never a model’s memory.
Questions about the connector and API
Do I give my AI assistant my password?
No. When you add the connector, your AI app opens our sign-in page in your browser. You sign in there. The app gets a sign-in token, never your password.
Can the connector change anything?
No. Every tool is read-only. It cannot file, edit, pay for or delete anything. To change something, you sign in on our website.
Which AI apps does it work with?
Claude, ChatGPT and any other AI app that can add a remote connector with sign-in. Some apps limit custom connectors to certain plans or to developer settings. Your app's help pages say which.
Is this legal advice?
No. The tools return the text of court opinions, statutes and court rules with their citations. We are not a law firm and nothing here is legal advice.
Does it tell my assistant whether a case is still good law?
No. Only U.S. Supreme Court cases that were overruled are flagged. For any other case, the tools show the later cases that cite it, so you or your assistant can read them before relying on it.
What happens when I reach my daily limit?
Tool calls stop until midnight UTC, and your assistant gets a message that says so. A bigger plan gives more lookups a day.
