Plain statements about what Legal Ops Depot is, what it is not, and the limits of the software. Read them before you order a filing or rely on a research result.
We are not a law firm
Legal Ops Depot is a software company. We are not a law firm, and we are not attorneys or paralegals. We do not represent anyone.
No lawyer-client relationship
Using this site, the filing engine, the law library, the connector or the API does not make you our client in the way a lawyer has a client. If you need a lawyer, hire one or contact a legal-aid office.
Not legal advice
Nothing on this site, in a filing the software prepares, or in a research result is legal advice. We do not tell you whether to file, what to file, or what your chances are. A licensed attorney or a legal-aid office can advise you on your case.
You choose, sign and file
You decide what to file and in which court. You read the finished papers, you sign them and you file them with the court yourself. We do not enter an appearance, speak for you, or sign or file anything on your behalf. The facts in a filing, the deadlines and the decision to file are yours. You remain the filer.
No promise of any result
No one can promise how a court will rule, and we do not. A well-prepared filing can still be denied, dismissed or lose.
This is AI software
The papers are prepared by AI software, at your direction, from the records and facts you give it. Software can make mistakes. Read every page before you sign it, and check that the facts, names, dates and case numbers are right.
How the citation checks work, and their limits
- A case can appear in a filing only as a row in a citation ledger that records where the case was fetched from, and the filing cannot render while a citation on the page has no row. This is meant to stop invented cases.
- Each case relied on is checked against the full court opinion, so the filing quotes and describes what the opinion actually says.
- The research looks for later decisions that overrule a case it relies on, by reading the cases that cite it. Only overruled U.S. Supreme Court decisions are flagged automatically. For any other court that search can miss a decision that overruled, reversed or limited a case, so a case may no longer be good law without a warning from the software.
- The law library shows the cases that cite a decision and the cases it cites. It does not tell you whether a decision is still good law. Read the citing cases yourself.
The law library is research material
The library holds court rules, statutes, regulations and court opinions gathered from public sources. It can be incomplete or out of date, and some court-specific local rules and state administrative codes are not in it. Check the official source, such as the court’s own website or the official code, before you rely on anything you find.
Prices, plans and refunds
Prices are shown before you pay. How filing orders and law library plans are billed, renewed and canceled is in the terms. Questions about a charge or a refund: write to contact@legalopsdepot.com.
