What does a state business search show?
A business search shows the record a state keeps for each company registered with it, usually the company's exact legal name, its type, its status, the date it was formed and the name and address of its registered agent. Many states also show the company's annual reports and filing history.
The record shows the company as the state has it on file, which can differ from the name the company uses in its advertising. Pages marked business services page in this list lead to the state's business services page, where the search is one of the services offered.
What other lists does the law library keep?
The law library keeps one list like this for each kind of official source: court forms by state, court rules by state, attorney general opinions, session laws, jury instructions and federal agency decisions.
